- 125 grams of butter (room temperature)
- 400 grams of whole meal flour
- 100 grams of brown sugar
- 50 grams of honey
- 1 medium sized egg
- 1 teaspoon of leavening.
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
- A nutmeg pinch.
- A clove pinch.
To cook ginger cookies is easier than we use to think: you have to be ready to make dough. Before start, you have to cover the baking sheet with baking paper
Let’s start by mixing in a bowl the sifted flour, with leavening, the spices, and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, mix the butter with brown sugar until get a cream, and then, add the egg and honey. Continue mixing it
Add, bit by bit the flour, and mix it with a spoon in the beginning, and with hands later. Is very important that you get your dough is uniform, and instead of sticky, it is thickened. Cover the dough with transparent paper and leave it in the fridge during 2 hours.
2 hours later, you have to turn the oven on (180ºC), pick up the dough from the fridge, and roll out the dough with rolling pin on a surface covered with flour, with desirable thickness, and cutting cookies using molds, with Christmas motifs (trees, stars, little men, shocks…)
Put the cookies on baking paper –keep few milimeters of distance- and cook it at 180º, 10 minutes. Stay tuned, because cookie thickness, affect in cooking time. When the edge turns into gold or brown, cookies uses to be ready
After removing it from the oven, leave it in baking sheet until it is cold and hard. You can decorate the cookies with sugar, or sweets: delicious!!
